Wow. Another example of how our society is being divided into the haves and have nots. I feel so bad for our young people without the good fortune to have wealthy parents, or built-in resources to afford the American dream that many of us have taken for granted. .

“Meritocracy” is like the NBA in the 50’s. The myth: only the best players make it. Reality: many talented players weren’t even allowed to compete. Until institutional barriers and privilege are removed, the only meritocracy you have is within the limited players allowed to play.

In any organization, there are the top 10-20% of the work force who are extraordinary and really make the place work. I suspect gov’t is no different. If you are one of those leaders in FDA, FBI, etc…why in the world would you stay? THAT is what we should worry about.
