A central tenet of the Soundscape concept is that humans immersed in sonic environments are objective measuring instruments (New Experts), whose reports and descriptions must be taken seriously and quantified by technical measurements. -Wade Bray, 2012. https://t.co/zyZPIIWn5Y

Cray's CX1 deskside workstation was the equivalent of having 8 rack-mounted servers right next to your desk. This was quietly accomplished with the use of active noise cancelation via the beefy speakers at the front. I assure you, they are not there for easy listening.

The “La Marseillaise” scene in Casablanca (1942) still lands with staggering power. Many extras were actual refugees from Nazi-occupied Europe, which is why it feels so painfully genuine.

Pile driving levels make instant kill out a kiometer radius, as the currents sweep the ocean waters filled with zooplankton through the pile driving zone, a dead zone 2km wide leaves the other side and drifts away from the pile driving.
