This budget year is tough, no doubt. But the Legislature is hard at work to find solutions that will deliver an on-time balanced budget, and not erase the progress we’ve made for Californians. Together, we’re going to get the job done for a stronger Golden State.

We're cutting the budget deficit by $17.3 billion. Today, along with legislative leaders, we signed an early action budget agreement that positions California to pass a balanced budget in June that protects key programs Californians rely on.

We had a productive first hearing as Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee. We discussed our fiscal challenges & the need for greater oversight & accountability. We will have 60+ hearings over the next few months as we craft a budget to address California’s biggest challenges.
