@implausibleblog If I think about it, I reckon the US is successful partly through cultural reasons. For the most part, they celebrate success. They want people to succeed and make money - it’s a “good-for-you!!” kind of culture.

@implausibleblog … the US has done much better. Why? Don’t know… lower taxes? Meh.. not that much lower. R&D clusters? University’s more tied to business? Maybe. Immigration? Yes, I think that’s a part of it. Openness to trade - sure. (Many things they are turning their backs on ironically.)…

@implausibleblog I think if wealth were a huge derange to investment and growth, you’d expect the US, where wealth and income inequality have risen recently, to be doing worse than the UK, where wealth inequality is flat at a lower level and income inequality has narrowed a bit… but actually…

@MattPolProf I mean it’s easy to see how he would have advocated controlling the volume of investment through interest rate policy whilst leaving its composition to the market. Sounds very GT.
