NOAA's GML website is down today. "On February 5, 2025, all power will be out at the David Skaggs Research Center. This outage is planned in order to perform critical maintenance on the power systems in the building.".The building also houses NOAA GML.

Seems like a good time to raise this thread to the surface again.
I'm being asked by local journalists how 'important' these leaks are for the climate. For any event it's easy to find a context in which that event's important. But globally, these leaks might show up as a 0.1% blip in annual, man-made methane emissions.

Singapore's MPA has published preliminary bunker fuel sales data for December. What's interesting here is that sales of high-sulphur fuel oil have doubled since the introduction of the low-sulphur rules in 2020. ▸More scrubbers or is this shadow fleet ignoring the rules?

This work has resulted in large increases in our estimates of cement-process emissions in Iran. Previously we relied on sparse data available from companies in the region (none in Iran) that reported their clinker and cement production. These proved to be inappropriate for Iran.
