The record shows what happens when we pay attention to some things (profit and privatization) and neglect others-(Long term investment in the collective good). The impact of this neglect will have a long tail into the future. Thank you for this excellent summary@AlykhanAbdulla

There are already 2.3 million Ontarians who do not have a family doctor. Forecast shows that will only get worse. There is still time to change course and reverse this disturbing trend—but it will require urgent action from the Ontario government. https://t.co/hhsMhlXH36

Canadians will forever be grateful to the health minister or premier who first makes and achieves this commitment. Other countries do this, we can too.

The shortage of family doctors across the province is one of the most critical issues facing patients. Primary care is the foundation of Ontario’s health-care system and we need to work together so all patients can get timely access to the care they need. #ONhealth
🚨1-in-5 Ontarians could be without a family doctor by 2025. The OCFP has solutions and is urging the Ontario government to work with family doctors now. 👉See our news release https://t.co/Vgb43bHbil

Good article with concrete solutions to improve primary care. Written for an Australian audience, but all 5 solutions apply to Canada too.

How can we get better primary health care access, quality and affordability that Labor has promised? We need to learn from what’s worked and failed overseas.

T2DM guidelines have a BIG problem. The 2018 Canadian guidelines are ~350 pages long. 2021 American ~225 pages. 2019 European ~70 pages. Frustratingly, none of them provide a useful numeric description of what the best available evidence shows for risk, benefits and harms.

Primary care is the foundation of the healthcare system Like a good building foundation, we forget about it when it’s working well It’s unseen, unsexy, and no one really wants to spend extra on it But, when it starts to crumble, the whole home can give way 🧵

Dear family physicians, these past years have been very stressful. Many family docs have supported patients who have had their needs pushed aside by a hospital system prioritizing COVID care. These challenges make you fell burnt out. But you're not alone.
