Long before we are ashamed of ourselves, we should be amused at ourselves—at our self-importance and self-conceit. - Herbert McCabe

Jesus never promised to eliminate all of the chaos from our lives; He said He'd bring meaning to it.

Midday Prayer: Lord, deliver me from being a frenetic disciple who gets a lot of things done, but misses the very things You are doing. Open my eyes to see You disguised in this "shelter in place" season that slows down everything around me. Amen. #slowdisciple

Vincent de Paul said, “The one who hurries delays the things of God.” Hurrying is violence to our souls and to those around us. Ask yourself: What am I doing that God might not be asking me to do?

If anyone told you that you have to get dressed up to go to Jesus, they lied. Take one minute to watch this video to brighten your day: https://t.co/4dmRKS6SbR

Huge here! Work for God that is not nourished by a deep interior life with God will eventually become contaminated by things like ego, power and approval which then guides us to buy into the wrong ideas of success. Thanks @petescazzero

Remember: the things people applaud in your life are the very things that will wreck your soul. Do more, bigger, better, faster is found in the devil's ministry (See desert temptations), not Jesus'. #ehdiscipleship

Do you want God to give you a big platform? He might make your wishes come true. He might give you a big platform to sanctify you. Or he might give you a big platform to destroy you. Remember, God gave Pharaoh and Judas big platforms. Don’t pursue a platform, pursue Christ.

One warning sign of an unhealthy spirituality is to be chronically overextended - having too much to do in too little time, saying yes to new opportunities before prayerfully discerning God’s will, and doing for Jesus without an anchored life of being with Him (@petescazzero)

We find today a fierce, almost violent planning & programming, a sense that w/out ceaseless activity nothing will be accomplished. How seldom it occurs to us God has to undo, & do all over again, so much of what we in our willfulness have pushed thru in his name.#DouglasSteere

We stop on Sabbath because God is on the throne, assuring us the world will not fall apart. He manages quite well w/out us having to run things. Eve when we sleep, he still works. And when we die (the ultimate Sabbath), God's world will continue quite nicely without us. #sabbath

The state you are in, the state you are, is the state you give to others. Today, as we conclude a 2 day, high-level training to multiply master disciple-makers in the #EHDiscipleship Course, I realize this is the foundation of everything we are talking about. Be still today.
