Anyone who’s worked with @amnesty knows they’re extremely cautious about using the word genocide. Many criticize them for it, but it greatly magnifies the significance of statements like this.
Amnesty International’s new landmark report concludes that Israeli authorities have committed – and still are committing - genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip. Full report, out now. #EndGazaGenocide

The same goes for any racialized or indigenous lawyer who’s ever had the nerve to ask questions, or try to step outside of expected roles in any way. Full solidarity with @SaraGhebremusse and others at @AllardLaw.
As a @UBC & @AllardLaw alum, and as a racialized law prof, I’m disappointed but not surprised. Every racialized and Indigenous scholar will recognize the broad strokes of this story. The details and the institutions will be different, but the story will be the same.

Congratulations to @Power_of_Law and the team at @EarthRightsIntl on this historic victory!.
“This verdict sends a powerful message to corporations everywhere: profiting from human rights abuses will not go unpunished. These families, victimized by armed groups and corporations, asserted their power and prevailed” @Power_of_Law .

Well said. As a legal educator, I think it’s imperative to call out craven attempts by senior members of the profession to bully students for their views. I applaud Justice MacDonald for doing just that in his report.
They were pilloried by senior members of the legal profession & let down by their law school, but then vindicated in Justice MacDonald’s review. In our @TorontoStar oped, @faisalkutty @BhabhaFaisal & I urge that the @LincAlexLawTMU students who were vilified for last year’s.

About 50 yards from the @occupyuoft encampment stands a plaque honouring a trailblazing student movement, controversial in its time. It boasts how it “attracted supporters far beyond the @UofT community,” and fought “discriminatory practices and beliefs of the state and society.”

Some rare good news out of @LincAlexLawTMU - warmest congratulations to my friend and ally @JoshuaSealy whose work these past few months has been nothing short of heroic.
Honoured to win Prof of the Year @LincAlexLawTMU. As scholasticide continues in Gaza ( it has been a privilege defending students speaking out against Israel’s atrocities. Students across the world free the university just as Palestine frees the world 🇵🇸✊🏽

We’re suing the Canadian government to stop illegal arms exports to Israel. Looking forward to bringing some accountability for the rules of international human rights law that this government has so blatantly ignored.
This government’s brazen contempt for international human rights law is shameful. That’s why we’ve filed a lawsuit to stop illegal arms exports to Israel. We’re proud to continue being at the forefront of upholding international human rights law in Canada.
