Chatted with some 30ish Gwitchin & Inuvialuit men during golf, made a casual joke of Indigenous people playing golf and Oka. They had no idea what that was. I realize Oka was an eastern thing from the last century but it always seemed to be a seminal thing in Canadian FN culture.

Things I learned on my writing retreat: 1. I really do love writing. 2. Writing well takes LOTS of time and energy. 3. Reading my work out loud is a key part of my process. 4. Ripe mangos fresh off the tree are always delicious.
