I cook some, do laundry, and when possible, a little writing. I repeat when necessary. Currently reside in the Chinatown section of Curve Lake First Nation.

There's going to be a bus leaving my Reserve and going to Toronto to see a production of THE MAGIC FLUTE. I just hope they're not expecting something with a country music flavour.

Another year passed, and another Nobel Prize for Literature escapes me. Oh well, there's always next year.

Theoretically today in 1000 AD, Leif Erickson landed in the new world, commonly known as Newfoundland. Bureaucracy being what it is, he’s still waiting to hear back from Immigration Canada regarding his Landed Immigrant status.

Last week, we remembered children once considered lost. Why do so many find that offensive?

Hey, New York — Brian thinks he's our new CFO. We gave him a stage to prove it.

Just had a meeting with a director and Dramaturge about a new play of mine. Feeling a little discouraged. I hate it when such smart and accomplished people think I know what I’m doing.

Writing is one of the most frustrating things you can do. It's never fully what you want to say or how you want to say it, you're lucky when you reach the "it's good enough" phase. Or possibly "fingers crossed, this won't embarrass me." And yet, you love your creation.

Forgive the lack of ironing but can you name the movie this T shirt is referencing?

I always find it interesting when people point out how "White" I look, something of which I have no control over. It's like "Wow, you're short". Anyway, I always look at them and respond "Oh, where did you do your undergraduate degree in identifying Indigenous people?"

Occasionally I'll run into someone who says defiantly, "I am not a colonizer. I am not a settler. My family has been here for three hundred years." I point out there is a 300 year old tree in my backyard, on the Rez, its riddled with insects and about to fall over. 🤷

Today is National Bookshop Day. I know where I'm going! I want to make sure all the trees that sacrificed themselves to create books do not go un appreciated.

I write because I want my mind to take me places my body can't take me. I write because stories keep piling up in side me and if I don't release them, I don't know what might happen. I write because somewhere out there, it might shine a light on somebody who needs that light.

When my aunt was in the States, she was approached by a White woman who found out she was Anishnaabe. This woman asked her to give her an Indigenous name, hopefully Flower, as she loved them lots. My aunt christened her Bakwezhigan. It means flour. This is where I get my humour.

Today in 1535, French explorer Jacques Cartier first visits the Iroquois settlement of Hochelaga (later Montreal). Was immediately vexed by the Mohawk language law.

Today went to the eye doctor and it was all good news. I had the vision and eyes of a newborn. Maybe that’s why people ask me why my eyes are so small…

Went to see the amazing Tom Jackson’s CANINDIAN tour last night in Port Hope. Such an excellent entertainer. He makes it look so easy. Love the jacket too.

It’s Orange Shirt Day! Welcome to Curve Lake First Nation. You can’t see her here but there was one Goth participant, but at least her earrings were orange.

Got my orange shirt out. There is a march planned for 10:30. It's a beautiful sunny day complete with warm, breezy kisses. I believe the Creator is with us!

Two weeks today is Thanksgiving day. I’m already working on all my “I absolve you of all historical guilt and responsibilities” speech.
