Glad @KYSecState is highlighting the needs to improve civic learning/health during #CivicLearningWeek. Our way of life is rooted in self government, and when we start to fail at that, everything else suffers. In Lex, you can keep up your lifelong civic learning through @civic_lex.
"The test results are in, and Kentucky is barely passing when it comes to civic health. Civic education is desperately needed in our schools, and our lawmakers need to act now to ensure our children will grow into adults capable of self-government.".

This happens SO much to me at national convenings, especially in democracy & adjacent spaces. Like, dozens of times annually. Sometimes it not even spoken - the skeptical glances after you say where you’re from. Great thread about our beautiful, imperfect Commonwealth💙.
I have gotten quite a few messages over the last few days from people painting my state with a wide brush. "Why would anyone listen to anyone in Kentucky?" ."You red state people blow my mind." ."Why even live in Kentucky?" . and more. I have thoughts. a 🧵:.
