Mahmoud Darwish introduced me to Palestine. His poetry obsessed me. I studied words he used (ie Nakba). I wanted to KNOW this land he adored and described. I read history, policy, art—everything. I grew a shelf for Palestine. Poets first taught me Palestine. They made me love it.
