I am a CHILD. I’m only 16. I go to school every day in order to learn, make friends and thrive. Kentucky just made it illegal for me to use the bathroom in school. They are forcibly taking away my healthcare. I can no longer speak to a school counselor without (1/2).

I can’t vote. I’m 17, I’m directly impacted by politics, directly impacted by SB 150. My identity has been made into a talking point in this election; with one side campaigning on the promise to do me harm. But I don’t have a vote. Go vote for me.

I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to author this piece about the impact of community on queer youth in KY. Our stories deserve to be heard. Thank you @Rainesford.

Kentucky’s new anti-trans law makes the school year more complicated for LGBTQ+ students. One student told WKU Public Radio the state now has too much control over what medical access certain kids and their parents have. Story by @jacob_noah:

You’re attempting to take away medical care from kids across Kentucky- medical care that saved my life. Care that trans youth like me rely on. All we want is to be comfortable in our bodies. Why are you targeting us? Why are you going after Kentucky’s kids?.

Today I filed an emergency motion challenging a federal court’s decision to halt a portion of SB 150. I will do everything in my power to protect Kentucky kids from the irreparable harm caused by reckless hormone interventions.

I’m changing to a middle college program next semester. I’m getting out; at the cost of my senior year. But so many of my friends won’t be able to. School will no longer be that safe place where we can be ourselves, where we can spend time being kids, with our friends. This hurts.

I could get in trouble for discussing my gender identity with my peers, and my teachers could get in trouble for allowing it. It’s bad enough that my medication will become illegal on the 28th, there’s no need to destroy my school life with it. Fuck this.

A big part of my decision to miss my senior year of high school was based on safety. It’s not safe for me to use school restrooms. A trans kid using a staff restroom outs them as being trans. There’s harassment, violence being directed at my community. 🧵.

My perspective on the hateful legislation sweeping the U.S., I wish I was just able to be a kid and not have to worry what new flavor of hate is coming out next.

Today, students in my school are observing a day of silence in protest of the discrimination and violence faced by queer folks nationwide. We stand with rep Zephyr. We stand against the senseless attacks on transgender youth. We stand for our friends, and for ourselves.

Montana Republicans cut off the state’s first trans representative’s microphone in an undemocratic move after she tried to speak on a bill that erases trans people from 41 sections of Montana law. The speaker said he will continue to not recognize her moving forward. 1of2
