If you're delivering into the city, if you're working in the city and need to bring tools, if you need to drive in for some other reason... you still can.
If you want to take a *shortcut through* the city centre... you'll have problems.
@ray_cun
Not a single human being on this earth was using bachelors walk or the route between pearse st and tara street as any kind of ‘shortcut’ , the eastlink was the only ‘shortcut’ in that part of town. That should be made free to assist
@2Otoole4School
There was a traffic analysis carried out by Dublin City Council which found that a lot of city centre traffic did not have a city centre destination.
@ray_cun
Should an environmentally friendly policy not try to limit driving to the shortest most direct route? I'm all for pedestrianising parts of the city, and having civic spaces that ye all only talk about, but this seems like purposely frustrating drivers making legitimate journeys.
@ray_cun
Single mothers, disabled people, vulnerable women who need to escape a violent situation, I could go on.
How dare you try take their freedoms away?!
@ray_cun
So you are fine with people making a much longer car journey to leave one’s home on Clontarf or Drumcondra to visit a relative in Rathmines or Ranelagh?
@ray_cun
Hi Ray, your “shortcut through” statement kinda shows where your coming from, your shortcut is somebody’s daily commute which now will add to their working day also add to the volume of traffic on residential areas. Remember 3% bring on the next election
@ray_cun
I think you'll find that it is you lads who'll be "having problems" come the next elections. It'll suit ye though since you'll be on yer bikes for good.
@ray_cun
So you are saying Green policy is these people will have to drive further, use more fuel and increase their emissions?
Well that's very clever 🙄
