15 months into this genocide & people in #Gaza are still being starved! My dear friend, a former fixer for @abcnews & @SBSNews, and his family have not been able to find any bread for 5 days. They can’t take out any $ I send them. It’s freezing. Their tents been flooded & ripped

You wouldn't want to be a Woolworths shareholder in the lead up to Christmas when the shelves look like this. This is what happens when you give workers AI surveillance and impossible performance targets, instead of the dignity and respect they deserve. Solidarity from Ballarat!

This seems like a good time to emphasize the relationship between the clemency power and Biden's legacy. As Mark Osler and I noted in September in a NY Times op-ed, Biden's pardon/commutation record is grim right now -- a historically low grant rate. /1

My friend Mustafa called me from northern Gaza a few minutes ago. The first thing he said was: “ My phone battery is at 2%, and when I thought about who to call, I thought of you. I'm sure I'm going to die, my friend. This might be our last call. Since morning, I've been

We’ve secured broad political support for our world leading move to ban political donations and will this week introduce legislation into the State Parliament to implement it. Because getting money out of politics is the right thing to do.

Donald Trump wants revenge. And he might get a major assist from Democrats in making that happen. On Tuesday, Congress is poised to approve a powerful new tool that Trump could use to crush his political enemies Scoop by me, via @theintercept

My wish for the next election is that poll trackers look like the one on the right 👉 not the left This was yet another election where the polling showed it could easily go either way, but most of the charts just showed two nice clean lines, one leading and one trailing. Bad!

We’re going to hear lots of stories about which people, policies and rhetoric are to blame for the Democrats’ defeat. Some of those stories may even be true! But an underrated factor is that 2024 was an absolutely horrendous year for incumbents around the world 👇

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
