Parker @ratherbecloning et al. @mouneimnelab @UArizonaCMM show that the Ena/VASP protein, EVL, complexes with the I-BAR protein, MIM/MTSS1, to drive filopodial protrusion from dendrites during neurodevelopment. https://t.co/xvnw7xcwLr

Last day @mouneimnelab, and I’ve already done a transfection for a weekend IP, plated neurons, probed a WB, done mini preps, ran a PCR, digested said PCRs, collected lentivirus, and it’s not even lunchtime! And I might never do these bench activities again. Kinda crazy!

Academic research and our training selects for people who can run the gauntlet again and again and again, and having run this gauntlet countless times, and only seeing more gauntlets on the horizon, I’m calling it. In spite of my gripes, I’m extremely grateful to be the…6

passed at a snail’s pace but also the blink of an eye. Research becomes the entirety of one’s life. There is no part time, there’s not even full time. There’s holidays spent in the lab, plans cancelled, promises broken, and everyone, including myself, coming in second…4

able to start a new career and not uproot me and Marco from the city we love. Ten years ago, I came to U of A for grad school, and I never left! I got my PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine, did a postdoc, and became an assistant professor. I learned, through all-consuming…2

This week, I had what would be (unless I pick up some freaky hobbies) almost certainly the last dissection of my life. I am super-excited to say that I am starting a position with Nikon Instruments, and leaving research behind. The job is remote, so I’m extremely lucky to be… 1
