Anyone impacted with the ongoing Summerhall/Fringe payment issues, please do take Chris up on his offer. I know so many acts and creatives who feel deflated, hurt, and angry about all of this, and this is an outlet for, hopefully, real action and conversation.

It's actually JOKES @Summerhallery owe us all thousands. Every week they send an email saying they are working on it - last one actually suggested we write to our MPs. How is it artists jobs to lobby their MPs to get the money they are owed?

It’s an unconscionable situation. Artists are owed thousands of pounds which is languishing in the Summerhall and Fringe office accounts (accruing some lovely interest I’m sure…) It must be paid out to the artists without any further delay. It’s their money.

This to me is the key point. MADE. Like all the way. Not just seeds. Not just something young artists do when they’re ‘emerging’. The primary tool for fully born artists to make art.

The SSP will rally with other creative industry unions at Holyrood on Thursday 5th September, 12:30pm. The freezing and cutting of budgets directly harms our members and our colleagues. Funds have been committed on multiple occasions. Enough. Promises must be delivered. ✊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿📢

Unless Scotland is to become nothing but an importer, without any kind of culture of its own. But a culture of festivals will only impoverish resident artists who are expected to make work for those festivals for a pittance. Or give up entirely.
