My (very) controversial opinion on Buddhist Twitter: the Buddha wasn’t wrong about anything whatsoever. The doctrine and presentation is perfect in every conceivable way. Perfect in the beginning, the middle, and the end. Accept this and liberate yourself. That is all 🙏
@nogginrocket I have no problem saying with confidence that I think Gautama was wrong about some things

Now *this* is what I call analytic philosophy of religion!
New piece on how readily people proclaim “I don’t use the word belief” and a philosophical investigation into the definition. https://t.co/DtI8G5UGqw

Under a dark sky, the Milky Way looks like a bright band interrupted by black rivers. Those rivers are not empty space; they are curtains of tiny dust grains that swallow nearly all the starlight trying to reach us. Radio waves a few meters long simply glide past that dust.

The dean of the university asks the head of the physics department: "Why do you need such expensive equipment? Why can't you take a cue from the math department? All they ask for is pencils, paper, and wastebaskets! Or the philosophy department? All they ask for is pencils and

Quantum field theory on curved spacetime does not generically admit any privileged decomposition into +/- field modes We don't need to exorcize "Ghosts" (negative energy eigenstates); we need to learn how to live with them
In 1977, Kellogg Stelle developed a particle theory of gravity. Unpopular at the time, it was only cited 10-20 times annually. Recently, the paper is getting fresh attention, accruing more than 150 citations each year. He died in October. https://t.co/mT0SYu4JSZ

With @JeffreyKotyk at the 2025 History of Science Society conference in New Orleans, for their fascinating panel on Chinese astrology and medicine. For lunch afterward I suggested Pêche, one of my favorite restaurants. I think the panelists had a great time!
