You haven't seen this post yet if you're not on Bluesky (please move, it's where my Posts are now), but here's our concert:

It would mean the world to me if you donate to my beloved International Orange Chorale and shared this link. It's a stellar choir that does so much for the San Francisco contemporary music scene. #GivingTuesday

I do not remember it telling me about my 10th anniversary here. I am not actually here for my 11th anniversary, I am on Bluesky (@pwallinga.bluesky.social, and also generally the only Patricia Wallinga anywhere). But god, I fucking guess.

As I've often done in the past, I will probably make a long, moderately insightful, mildly self-indulgent thread on the newest New Music Concert I Have Emotions About (@gabrielkahan and @caroshawmusic). You gotta go to Bluesky for it, though. (tl;dr i'm so glad this exists)

Q: But Republicans are winning because we're going woke? A: Republicans will always be better at being Republicans than Democrats are. Concessions will not save you. Do not comply in advance. DO NOT. COMPLY. IN ADVANCE.

Q: What's with all these pronouns? A: Basic part of speech. I use them, you use them. If somebody tells you they use a pronoun you don't expect, think of it like it's part of their name. Q: But they'll be MAD if I mess up! A: Apologize, correct yourself, move on. It'll be okay.

Q: But what if my child doesn't TELL me they're questioning their gender? A: Skill issue. Support their self-expression and make it clear you're accepting of queer people, and they'll be open with you. After that, see above.

Q: What if my child/loved one is trans? A: Congrats! You get to watch them become a happier, more free version of themselves. Q: They're a kid! What if they change their mind? A: Every change they let kids make before ~16 is reversible. Hair grows back. You can buy new clothes.

Q: What if they're in a bathroom with me? A: Piss, wash your hands, and leave. They're doing the same, and are no more likely to be a creep than the next person. If they do commit a crime against you, they can still be prosecuted like anyone else. They almost certainly aren't.

For those who think we should throw trans people under the bus in the next election, a helpful guide: Q: Why shouldn't we? A: Because they're people, you twat. Q: But I think they're weird. A: Then mind your own business and let them live their lives.

It's never too late to #Breakyourstreak! Stay tuned here for updates, the picket line lasts as long as our strike. In the meantime we have made an entire Games and Cooking website for you to use instead of @NYTGames and @nytcooking:

Things are obviously terrible right now but in less than three months Drake is gonna have to sit there and watch while he gets called a p*dophile during halftime of the most watched TV program in America

This is not frivolous at all. We have (in theory) more access to history than was ever possible before but we don’t utilize it and thus, we lose it. We are having our own history scrubbed and replaced with a fraudulent one. KNOW WHAT CAME BEFORE YOU! PROTECT CULTURE!

This sounds frivolous in the grand scheme of things but we need to support archivists, protect public libraries, protect journalists, writers, artists, photographers, and filmmakers. We need to continue to keep culture alive and educate our youth.
