The PVA is opposed to any invasive experimentation on animals, because it is unnecessary animal cruelty, it provides data which are a poor model for human physiology and disease, because organ on a chip technology is already available - and because of this.

Censorship, bullying and the withdrawl of funding from scientists who won't experiment on animals. The classic playbook of coercion and control

Giving dairy calves plastic “toys” to play with helps them express their natural behaviour which, in turn, benefits their mental wellbeing. As a result,

It's hard to read articles like this, but as veterinary professionals we need to understand public opinion. The PVA agrees with the stance taken by the BVU at Valley Vets. Huge corporate profits coupled with staff using food banks make for very poor optics

This is finally confirmed. An EU Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare. We need an equivalent in the UK - someone in Govt whose specific role is to act as an advocate for animals and their protection - and who has the power so to do

For the first time in the history of the EU, there will be a dedicated role for animal welfare - the Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare.

Greyhound racing should and will be banned. What other sport kills more than 100 of its athletes per year? No excuse for this horror and no apologist can make this right. This 'sport' is not sporting and has no future in the UK.

Belgian eventing team disqualified after doping scandal. There can be no excuse for doping an Olympian horse with trazodone. Dressage was already under the spotlight and this only adds to welfare concerns for equines used in competitions and circuses

Lots more vets & RVNs join our campaign for RCVS democracy. RCVS plans never were fit for purpose. Surely RCVS will now concede that democracy is king, but that independent oversight of the profession is also required. Setting & marking one's own homework cannot be the future.
