100% agree here! If you learn how to draw something by watching a video on YouTube, then draw something and sell it, does the owner of the YouTube video deserve a cut? Expecting AI companies to pay for training material freely available online is missing the point entirely.
James Cameron says the AI copyright debate is backwards: "You're a model already." Humans learn like AI models do — we absorb, emulate, iterate. But we don't get sued for our influences. Only for what we output.

Third convocation. (First one as an instructor, though...) Congrats to all Schulich students graduating today, but especially to those who put up with me for an entire term! #YorkUConvo #Schulich #Convocation #Celebration #CongratsSchulichGrads

Happening in Toronto right now: @OpenAI founder @sama, interviewed by @Shopify founder @tobi. (Presented by #ElevateTechCA) Not a coincidence: it's happening in the same room as @karaswisher and @profgalloway filmed their live episode of @PivotPod a few years ago!

I'm not saying this is the worst #interview I've ever watched... Wait, no, that's exactly what I'm saying. The absolute worst. Say what you will about @ElonMusk, but the man is clearly intelligent, and to go after someone like him without proper preparation is just foolish.

Breaking from @WaltDisneyCo 's Shareholder Meeting: a Moana live-action film is coming. What can I say, except, you're welcome... #Disney #Moana #Entertainment

I watched this last night -- wow! This film was incredibly well done -- worth a watch!!! (I'm predicting another Oscar nomination for @TaronEgerton )
@TaronEgerton stars in #Tetris—the game you couldn’t put down, the story you couldn’t make up. Now streaming on Apple TV+

Okay, this is well-done... (But I'm embarrassed to admit I deciphered the entire braille message before I realized the person holding the sign was dressed as Daredevil, which of course makes this 1,000x funnier.) #Disney #Daredevil #Braille

I don't live in Toronto, and I don't agree with many of Councillor @gordperks' positions based on what I've read in the past... But this is a really great speech. And on one point, I agree fully: Many times when you hear a "can't", it's actually a "won't". Kudos, sir.
Councillor Gord Perks is on a heater. He’s taking shots at Mayor John Tory for how he’s handled the budget and Councillor Brad Bradford for his attempt to goad Councillor Bravo into saying ‘defund the police.’ Worth a listen.

"If seeing is believing, I believe we've been seen." - Ted Lasso Such a great line, and it's applicable to so much more than just this one incredible TV series. Mark your calendars: #TedLasso Season 3 premieres on March 15th on @AppleTVPlus! #believe

Seriously, @netflix... Think about it! Add inexpensive, $2.99/month "family add-ons" as a benefit to Premium plans, and watch people upgrade their Netflix plans instead of cancelling their subscriptions. Win-win-win. #streaming #media #entertainment #subscribers #cancellation
Why isn't @Netflix offering those on Premium plans ($19.99/mo) the option to add people outside their HHs for a LOT LESS than $7.99/month? The ability to add family members outside your HH for $2.99/pp would be a benefit worth upgrading from Standard vs causing subscriber rage.

I've wanted to work in entertainment for 20+ years but haven't had any luck; industry vets have paradoxically said I need entertainment experience to work in the biz. But classically-trained marketers tend to understand pricing mechanics. That'd come in handy now, eh, Netflix?
