It's easy to think that thoughtful longform journalism is an endangered species. We refuse to believe that—and we need your help.

"The spies ... are patriots without countries, cursed forever to play out the violent gestures of war without any of the context that distracts from (or justifies) the carnage." @gyasihall's critical essay about the iconic comic strip is a must-read.

With the novelist's death at age 89, American literature has lost another giant. Enjoy a few of the pieces *about* Cormac McCarthy we've enjoyed over the years. https://t.co/ppvNhL0C5c

Agree—once it's sub-$1500. Right now it's a statement of intent and a proof of future development, not the last best chance.

Nothing about this Apple VR product is half-baked. Vision Pro is the best possible foot forward for this tech and if people don't adopt after this CAN WE JUST AGREE WE DON'T WANT IT?

Reminder that virtually (!) everything about the Vision Pro has been in the works for *years*. In 2019, I put the puzzle pieces together about Apple's AR dreams.

The formatting is completely borked, but going back to @mat's great 2014 story about Buzzfeed (and Circa and First Look) shows you what an eerie-ass time capsule tech optimisim can be.
