This is the secret to getting good, by the way: a deeply warped sense of cost-benefit. It pays off in mysterious ways!

Good post by Alex Nedelcu (who is no longer on this hellsite) comparing Scala and F# (in terms of expressiveness, type classes and more). A very detailed comparison

Which language leans more towards functional programming? In this binary choice, people have perceived F# to be that language, due to its ML roots, but I have a different perspective…

So, what? Last version of #YAES has both hot 🔥 and cold ❄️ data streams 😱. Channels produce data regardless of whether anyone is listening, while Flows emit data only when someone is listening. And both use #Scala direct style 😏 Check it out! https://t.co/4dc2ExqWio

Yesterday's @ScalaIO_FR was simply amazing. A huge thank you to all the speakers, participants, organization and technical teams. As someone who co-created and organized this conference for 12 years, spanning 10 editions, it is so difficult to say: this was the last edition

Congratulations @odersky for receiving the Programming Languages Achievement Award @icfp_conference - well deserved! :) I can only confirm what it says on the citation, your work deeply impacted how I view programming. Let's work towards making #Scala a continued success!

Scala is an extremely expressive language, but this expressiveness is poorly understood. It's not about the funky operators or the DSLs. Outside math operators, things like ~ or <*> need to be explained, and none of them justify the learning curve. The least bad example is Akka

Now that the wheels have fallen off the woke regime in tech, we'd be smart to offer amnesty to those who got caught up in it. Be the counter force to the purity purges that plague that side. Accept earnest apologies, embrace the fallen, and forgive those who trespass against us.

I'm currently enjoying @sapinker's When Everyone Knows That Everyone Knows... in which he includes the puzzle I knew as the "brown- and blue-eyed islanders problem". Though he reframes it with diners, some of whom have spinach on their teeth—possibly as an excuse to coin the word

You can now see the history of sell orders that have been filled. Every transaction you see is USDC being sent to someone with a sell order, and "filled" designates that the person's full order is now complete with that transaction. (We may changed the wording to order complete).

@ChiefScientist @propensive It bothers me too. However, when it comes to this open letter, Brian Clapper/Travis Brown appear to be the public face/mastermind of it, respectively. But most of the online ire is directed towards the Scala Center. I want to make sure I am frustrated with the right people.
