This weekend, eight people were killed seeking safety in the UK. Or thoughts and solidarity are with all those affected, and all those who lost loved ones. The policies governing our border epitomise a politics devoid of empathy and humanity - a politics which must change.

Yesterday, 12 people were killed seeking safety in the UK - among them, 6 children. Seeking asylum is a human right. No-one should have to risk their lives to access safety. Deaths on our borders must not become normalised. These are human lives, not numbers.

This weekend, five people were killed as they sought safety in the UK. These deaths are the result of the relentless pursuit of hostile border polices by France and the UK. No-one should have to risk their lives seeking safety. In solidarity and anger - always.

We have been told that several evictions have been going on, and are still in progress in Grande Synthe and Calais today. It seems that camps have been destroyed: tents and personal belongings are being thrown away, forcing people out into the cold.
