Brian Armstrong's best advice for a pre-product/market fit startup “If you’re pre-product/market fit, the best advice that I have from that period is: action produces information. Just keep doing stuff.” He borrows this from Paul Graham who said: “Startups are like sharks. If

One of my favorite lessons I’ve learnt from working with smart people: Action produces information. If you’re unsure of what to do, just do anything, even if it’s the wrong thing. This will give you information about what you should actually be doing. Sounds simple on the

storytelling is the ultimate compression algorithm for human attention. everything else, data, logic, tech feeds into it, but if you can’t wrap it in a compelling narrative, nobody will give a shit. people think they make decisions based on facts, but they’re mostly responding to

True agency is the art of stepping outside yourself, assessing where you are, and deliberately choosing where you want to be. And making it happen.

We'll soon move into a job market where submitting your resume or cold email spamming efficacy drops to near 0%. Only real way to stand out will be to ship something in the real world - useful apps, open source, insightful tweets, etc. Only way we know you love building is if

Agency > Intelligence I had this intuitively wrong for decades, I think due to a pervasive cultural veneration of intelligence, various entertainment/media, obsession with IQ etc. Agency is significantly more powerful and significantly more scarce. Are you hiring for agency? Are

Working hard is a biased word, it doesn’t have the same meaning for everyone, and telling someone to “work hard” just makes you look like an asshole. Working hard is being high agency. High agency is being forward-thinking. To be forward thinking you need to ask yourself:

When you're in your 20s, you have to start a business and have kids This isn't optional; it's a duty to your ancestors The reason is that the first ~10 years of a business should optimize for growth And as you go past 10 years, you start needing to optimize margins and burn

Crypto cards; a hot take They make your crypto spendable, which is cool. But there's 0 real innovation here. It's crypto slapped on top of tradfi. We're still paying the rent seekers Visa and Mastercard. True innovation skips them. We'll reveal more at @EFDevcon

Crypto cards; A hot take I've been using those little fuckers since 3+ years, hence I am entitled to an opinion - here it is. 💳@holyheld The first non custodial card afaik, and my first venture into this space. Loved it, but over time they introduced FX fees for non EU

Tell a merchant that they can make passive income the MOMENT they’ve collected payment from their customers is more impactful than enabling them to accept crypto.

That’s the biggest issue with crypto payments: pushing the narrative “we accept stablecoins” too hard to sound cool for retail. You don’t need that. Stablecoins are a platform to finance transactions and connect any rails but the truth is, no one outside our space actually cares.

This is Circle’s (and most stablecoin issuers’) problem. There is currently no obvious value proposition here for a merchant in a developed economy to take stables. Let’s look at why.

4/ Avoid the word "better" at all costs. • A "better" financial plan • A "better" way to live • A "better" workout plan • Etc. "Better" implies incremental improvement. Instead, aim for DIFFERENT. And then be specific about what that difference is.
