Many believe that people themselves should have the control. However, participants discussed about how this creates a situation where people have to make very many decisions about their data, which gets overwhelming, so they rather wish someone else did it for them.

The 10th Opinion Festival was held in Paide recently. Erki Saluveer @erkisal participated in the discussion “Why do I have to trust my data to the state?” which was organised by Statistics Estonia. The discussion revolved mostly around who should have the control over the data.
