My participation in this field season is thanks to the UK-Canada Globalink doctoral exchange funded by @UKRI_News @MitacsCanada.

A perfect day of fieldwork today and a great start to leg 2 of our camp on Qikirtaarjuk Island in Dease Strait, Nunavut. We will be here for just over a month in total collecting data on the changing ice surface and carbon dynamics during melt season.

Finally here is a pic of me looking at sea ice in person and not looking at it from space (for once)!

and that this mis-match is most important in mixed ice-water environments (e.g. sea ice during melt season or break-up and the marginal ice zone) which are incidentally regions where we know fluxes are poorly constrained
