Playing around with @sentinel_hub to look at data availability over Qikirtaarjuk Island (Dease Strait, Canada) this Spring. Lots of days of 100% cloud cover but you can see how rapidly ice break-up occured in early July (@cbraybs + I are in these images!) #EOBrowser

A perfect day of fieldwork today and a great start to leg 2 of our camp on Qikirtaarjuk Island in Dease Strait, Nunavut. We will be here for just over a month in total collecting data on the changing ice surface and carbon dynamics during melt season.

and that this mis-match is most important in mixed ice-water environments (e.g. sea ice during melt season or break-up and the marginal ice zone) which are incidentally regions where we know fluxes are poorly constrained
