Here are 2 bonafide experts discussing what's wrong w the Grassy Mtn coal picture. Kolijn is a 6 continent mining engineer for 40 years, Donahue was AB Govt's Executive Director of Science. It's a mess for our water and the economics don't add up at all. So why are we doing this?
Coal mining on Alberta's eastern slopes doesn't make sense economically, ecologically, or politically. So why is the UCP backing it? @CorbLund, Dr. Bill Donahue, and Cornelis Kolijn lay out the indisputable facts on #RealTalkRJ. FULL INTERVIEW: https://t.co/GdfnRRaFX5

Dr Colin Cooke is the lead AB Govt scientist on 4 publicly available studies that clearly show coal mines contaminate our water and our air. Taxpayer funded. CBC, Global and CTV have all requested interviews. Govt of AB has not allowed it. This should be very concerning to you.

Thank you to The Canadian Club of Calgary for hosting an event on coal mining and bringing voices from the eastern slopes in southern Albertan. These are important messages from the speakers: “It’s not a partisan fight, it’s a strategic fight … it’s not about left or right,

And the mine site isn't even in the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass. It's in Ranchlands MD, next door. And they didn't get to vote. But their councillors voted unanimously AGAINST the mine in council. Just one more example of smoke and mirrors and dishonesty around this project
Why were only the residents of Blairmore allowed to vote on the potential coal mine when the resource belongs to all of Alberta and affects the communities downstream? #easternslopes

It's an extremely good read. Explains the issue very succinctly.
Below is a link to an article I wrote for Grainews on potential Selenium concerns that could develop downstream from the proposed Grassy Mountain coal project including drinking water, livestock watering & irrigated crop production. We should be concerned!

It's just word games. They'll say whatever they have to to get at the coal and the money.

Alberta, it's getting down to the wire with the coal issue. The govt just opened up the whole Eastern Slopes AGAIN to foreign companies. If you don't want coalmines in our Rockies & water source, flood your MLAs with emails & phone calls. Goal line stand, they're coming for real.

Alberta lifts ban on coal mining in the eastern slopes https://t.co/I3W3Pgwc0r Our watershed and ag industry should not be sacrificed to cover mistakes made by government- in overpromises and unethical lobbying of foreign coal companies.
