Friday was my last day at @Meta MSL. It was a short but … memorable. Many lessons. I wish @finkd, @alexandr_wang, and everyone in MSL all the best. I hope you produce something great. ✌️

Exelby said it was “because I’m an awful person,” according to the video. “I’ve crushed everyone who ever loves me,” Exelby said. progressing the dialogue, people with that level of mental illness no longer have what we call “free will” and ought to be institutionalized

I don’t know anything about Rome but if you’ve ever played an RTS, the reasons for losing are always multifaceted with some principal components
The Roman Empire didn’t fall because its population collapsed. The Western Roman Empire contained more than 15M people, and fell to a handful of Goths and Vandals. Rome fell because it outsourced its army to barbarian mercenaries. Rome died because no Roman wanted to die for it.

her and her then-boyfriend is insane
@benitoz When my ex-wife and I emailed our friends that we were splitting, a college professor of mine called me and said he had the perfect woman for me. The description was very compelling, and he invited me to dinner at his home with her and her then-boyfriend so I passed. Six months

zuck be listening to the judgement of the guy who managed scale’s exec team, iykyk
I’ve long known how brilliant Yuandong Tian is, I followed him and learned from his writing years ago. He’s undoubtedly one of the best AI scientists in the world. It’s a real shame for Meta to let him go. At the core, this happened because Zuck refuses to admit that his own

I’m strongly in favor of order, but am disappointed Trump’s policies there (eg. ICE) have an air of cruelty instead of empathetic necessity. We need a unifier next.

The US (pre-Trump) and China are kinda like overvalidating liberal dad vs. narcissistic tiger dad. I think the best dads are in-between and would like to see us incentivize election of one.

this is an important thing to remember as I get older and recall how retarded older family members have felt (and continue to feel) to me. I’d like to not be a similar retard if I’m lucky enough to have kids in the future
Old people's criticism of the young is essentially that young people respond to the incentives that actually exist in society and not the incentives that old people wish existed. Complaining about the lack of frugality, loyalty to employers, work ethic: it's all the same thing.

this is about as schizo-rationalist as I’m willing to get; thank you internet for letting me post this to punch my way out of my personal computer-brain world-is-deterministic doomerism.
