I’m a grad from U of Calgary, which has a 3yr program. It was great, though very little break time between. I was one of the last cohorts to do a mandatory rotating internship, which helped with the experience aspect. Yes, could easily get rid of 2nd yr of surg onc fellowship

If you push these efforts too far - shorten the schooling, shorten residency, get rid of the standardized tests, eliminate this and that… Eventually, there is a point at which people will come to believe your job isn’t that special, and could be done by anyone.

A study showed an acoustic event wasn’t corr with peristalsis in quad being evaluated. (Or, there is no acoustic foam in our abdomen separating it into quadrants :-) ) Similarly, sometimes there was peristalsis with no acoustic event detected No need to dust off stethoscope!

The issue with this manuscript is that they didn’t listen for sounds in all 4 abdominal quadrants, thereby reducing the likelihood of hearing sounds by 75%. I’m shocked this got past the reviewers.

Saw this outside an operating room a while ago. I know several surgeons who have needed one because of work-related cervical disc disease. Hopefully it wasn't going into another one. Craning your neck for hours, several days a week, causes problems.

A question for the next Football Between The Lines… Who’s the most famous footballer you’ve met in person and what was the interaction like? Was it awkward? Were they sound? Were they a prick?
