Airwave from the impact of 2024 XA1 detected at CTBTO station I45. Based on the period of the signal the source energy is about 0.02 kT TNT. With entry speed of 15.5 km/s this corresponds to an object with mass of 700 kilograms and diameter of about 0.75-1 m. #2024XA1

This is now the 10th object for which an impact was predicted in advance. These events are becoming almost routine as surveys like ATLAS, Catalina and Pan-Starrs become more efficient. This is the third such telescopically detected object to hit Earth in 2024.

This appears to be the impact of a telescopically detected object, A11dc6D, which was discovered by the ATLAS telescope in Hawaii. While only having 5 observations in a 15 min arc the time and location are consistent with predictions from JPL Scout and ESA's Meerkat system.
