I’m beyond thrilled to share that our work on using deep learning to compute excited states of molecules is out today in @ScienceMagazine! This is the first time that deep learning has accurately solved some of the hardest problems in quantum physics.

Obviously I should not be shocked that his followers invented a version of him that has little resemblance to reality in their heads but it still makes me feel like I'm taking crazy pills all the time.

He was talking about the JFK files with a reporter, and talking about how he was going to release it all (which he sorta did in his first term anyway) and the reporter asked about Epstein and he said something like "well, I don't think we'll be taking a look at those". Right?.

I know we all live in a half-remembered fever dream now but I could have sworn that Trump explicitly said he would *not* release the Epstein files when he was campaigning? Like he was widely mocked for it at the time?.

Oh yeah and the gigatariffs. People really hated the gigatariffs for like a hot minute and then the stock market recovered.

I really wish it was killing thousands of children across the globe, destroying our scientific institutions or all the, like, actual fascism that turned people against him, but if it's the Epstein thing that does it. fine, whatever. Live by the conspiracy theory, die by it.

Can an AI model predict perfectly and still have a terrible world model?. What would that even mean?. Our new ICML paper formalizes these questions. One result tells the story: A transformer trained on 10M solar systems nails planetary orbits. But it botches gravitational laws 🧵

Anyway, science and mathematics are aesthetic pursuits and we need more culture that celebrates them as such, instead of just being grist for the mill of "impact".
