Re-upping this. ALSO! My 'g' key is breaking, so the email in the announcement is missing one: contact plr at not =).
We're hiring! Please pass this announcement on to people who like thinking about genealogical trees, genomic data, and/or data structures! (And, contact me by email or on 🐘, probably not here.).

Gee, twitter used to be useful for broadcasting information (like this important bugfix below!). but I'm reeeeaaallly gettin the feeling it's not so great for that any more (posting got me this message saying no-one much would see my tweet):
⚠️An important update to the slendr #rstats package (v0.7.0) is on its way to CRAN! This update deals with a critical bug discovered in the pyslim Python module (part of the tskit family for working with tree sequences). It turned out that pyslim's recapitation was broken! [1/4].

Thanks, @fleventy5 for posting this here! Meant to do it earlier but the evolution meetings distracted me. pyslim users, take note:.
A quick summary of the complex problem can be found on @petrelharp's (main dev of pyslim) 🐘 account. Whether or not you use R + slendr or if you're a Python + SLiM/pyslim/tskit user, definitely update pyslim in your Python environments to v1.0.3! [3/4]

Neat thinking about the evolution within us, here: (note: I'm on masto at ecoevo dot social but stopped in for this one).
I'm excited to share a paper w co-1st @ar_davino, @TamaraPrietoF + @landau_lab. We introduce tools to study the heritability + plasticity of cell state diversity in somatic evolution, now possible w single-cell tech. It all began with a simple question.

Want to be excited for someone else for a minute?.
Want to know why this text from @masseyaimee1 is one of the best I've ever received?. Back in 2021, Aimee decided to forego a fellowship with @CDCgov to instead stay in the lab and find viruses in the Amazon with an @NSF fellowship. /1
