Lisa, I know what it takes to do that job, and I have no end of admiration for the way you have done it. With your skill and energy, I know you will prove that your story has many great chapters still to come.
We are all Broncos now. This story is so tragic and every Canadian will feel it. It strikes to the heart of so many small towns and big where we watch our young board buses and travel the countryside for the game we all love. So incredibly sad.

The Dutch never forget and find ways to ensure that generation after generation keep that tradition. It’s the case in Holten as Bob says, and in different ways at the other Canadian War Cemeteries in the Netherlands where thousands of Canada’s war dead rest.
Once again on Christmas Eve in Holten, Netherlands, children placed candles at the graves of the 1,393 Canadian soldiers resting in the Holten Canadian War Cemetery. These brave men who helped liberate the country in WW2 are not forgotten. Merry Christmas!

Lou Lamorello just called me to say I'd PROBABLY be picked as the next winger to play with Auston Matthews but I'd have to agree to shave my beard. I said "probably" is no good and took a pass.
117 thousand US soldiers died in the mud, blood and horror of WW1. Donald Trump flew to France to take part in remembrance ceremonies, but cancelled due to drizzle. Seems everyone else went.
A ridiculous situation at the CBC this weekend.
@rosiebarton
being targeted by trolls for something she had nothing to do with while CBC lawyers who engineered this mess enjoy their weekend. Ignore the noise Rosie and focus on the job you do so well.
That was a pretty special bronze medal for a bunch of guys who have played in the shadow of the NHL this year. Good on you boys. Enjoy and celebrate the Canadian way! We are proud of you.
I won’t blame the players or the coaches if the Leafs don’t win the Cup this year. I know whose fault it will be. It will be because Scott Brison quit his cabinet post.
Thirty years ago today the great Knowlton Nash handed over the anchor spot at The National and allowed me to have the most exciting professional years of my life. It was an exhilarating ride and I’ll always cherish the memories.

Finally a reason why the army was called in to snowy Toronto almost exactly 21 years ago. It was just a training mission for a real emergency like the one in Newfoundland and Labrador this weekend.
So today’s my 70th birthday, a chance to look back on life so far. Which makes me ask .... where was Kyle Dubas when I wanted to live MY childhood dream?
I know there are a lot of Raptor fans out there (me too) but do me a favour tonight if you are watching the game. Set your PVR for 9 pm on CBC for my one hour documentary “The Future of War”. It’s an important look ahead as we remember tomorrow’s 75th anniversary of DDay.

It’s on days like this you show by your words and your actions which side of history you want to land on. Very disappointed that the NHL picked the side it did. Good for broadcasters like
@KellyHrudey
@FriedgeHNIC
for the courage to speak their mind.
After weeks of scrutiny Trudeau got a break this week. Poilievre found his actions under the microscope, and to many, it didn't look good.

Joe Schlesinger. Look at a map and it seems you could point to anywhere and remember a story Joe did from there. Storytelling that few will ever match and in ways that made us all better informed about the planet we live on. You’ve earned your rest Joe.
So fifty years ago tonight they landed on the moon and millions of Canadians watched on television. I was living in Churchill, Manitoba where we had to wait a week to see it while the CBC put together film of the TV broadcast and shipped it by train. It was worth the wait!!
Five years ago today I left the best job with the best colleagues in Canadian broadcasting. Great work and great fun. Congrats now to

Just saw “Darkest Hour”. Brilliant. Especially Gary Oldman as Churchill. Only regret was that at 69 I was one of the youngest in the theatre. Sure hope millennials see this so they know what real leadership is — maybe they’ll go to the evening shows!
Reagan was one of the first to pick people out of the audience to underline his stories. He made it look real. Now it just looks like a staged prop show with the trained seals clapping along in the audience.
How many times a day do you think Mike Pence stops in front of a mirror and practices: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States.......” Bet it’s been a few today.

This small group of kids started an impromptu haka in tribute to two of their peers slain in the Christchurch shooting. Soon they were joined by scores of fellow students to form a deafening chorus.
If Donald Trump really called soldiers who died for their country “suckers” and “losers” maybe he should watch what Tom Brokaw told me at the Omaha Beach Cemetery.

Trump plays media like a fiddle. Op was last night. Identity confirmed last night. Forces back to base last night. But Trump waits til today to appear on camera after leaking details thru the night. Smart strategy as it blew out all the Sunday morning impeachment shows.
