This year's hoard from Warsaw International Book Fair. 7 books in 4 languages. I'm particularly happy with the Belarusian picks

Looks like I scraped through! Not a great score by any means, but still better than I expected :) #jlptresults

The best book I've read in 2024 I think
@TheUntranslated Жизнь и судьба (Life and fate) by Vasily Grossman

It's been a year since my last blog post (a yearly summary of books I'd read), so it's high time for the 2024 edition of "my year in books". Link below

Reading first pages of something else than a textbook and realizing you *can* figure it out feels so special. #langtwt

Even if you're not interested in the particular languages, it makes sense to look around and see how much can be done by a really small team or even a single person who cares about language teaching more than engagement farming or attracting advertisers and investors... #langtwt

https://t.co/WZ4xiKcD7H - your go-to website (and Youtube channel) for Manding varieties (geared mostly toward Bambara and Dioula, but systematically expanding). A nice dictionary, grammar clearly explained and lots of cultural context in the videos @ankataa_project
ankataa.com
Resources, media and lessons to learn Bambara, Dioula, Malinké or more simply, Manding.

I'll name two that I use and support and I would really love to hear about your favourites: https://t.co/KHDCO2TgTH has basically everything you need for learning Japanese (SRS, solid explanation of grammar, games, community, cute graphics & more)

🎉Just finished JLPT N4 grammar points set on Renshuu! Good reason to break my silence for a bit of 📢 PSA: 👉there are independent language-learning sites out there which offer much more than popular apps 👉it makes more sense to support small teams than big platforms #langtwt

Very good news indeed! The first ever learner's manual for Circassian *in English* (not that there's a lot of them in other languages - off the top of my head I can only think of a single one, written in Turkish but translated into Russian)
Very excited to announce my friend, Larisa Tuptsoko, and I have just signed with @hippocrenebooks to publish "Beginner's #Circassian (Adyghe)" next year! This will be the first ever learner's manual for Circassian, one of the most fascinating languages in the world!

Pierwsze co przyszło mi do głowy: "Wojna to pokój, wolność to niewola, ignorancja to siła" Sukces Duolingo pokazuje jak wielka to siła

Already pre-ordered, can't wait to get the book (and can't believe how long it's been since I last studied Chechen)
My textbook with @KhedaGa, “Beginner’s #Chechen” is out in May with @hippocrenebooks. Don’t forget to pre-order! https://t.co/vjC9SrC7Tr

Okay, this really is NOT what I signed up for. How can I get a refund of my "lifetime" subscription? @memrise
