For today’s #ThrowbackThursday, I’m reposting “Texter and screamer” - one of my London urban landscapes that sold a couple of months ago 🔴 The narrative plays with different types of communication: the woman texting, next to Stik’s giant sprayed figure, screaming at her.

2/3 This painting’s allegory explores the delicate balance between strength and fragility - in human life as well as in the buildings and communities we live in. These are the places where our memories are made, yet, if neglected, they can crumble just like ourselves.

Last night, my painting “The Allegory of Dermis and Gypsum” won the People and Place Award at the Three Counties Exhibition in Stoke-on-Trent. Winning this award means so much to me, as my work is rooted in documenting people and place. 1/3

2/3 created by We Are Culla. At the end of the 19th century, this building housed one of the largest printers and bookbinders in Staffs. The second piece, ‘Baines of Bursley’, is inspired by Bennett’s novel The Old Wives’ Tale. It portrays the fictional Baines drapery shop…

2/2 Sadly, this gorgeous building now stands empty, waiting for its next chapter. I chose to draw it on a MaccyD bag so the “M” could stand for Macclesfield. This drawing is available to buy - please DM me if you’re interested!.

What a fab couple of hours in Macclesfield today, urban sketching as part of the A Small Space exhibition’s Artist’s Day @silkmuseummacc. The “bagsy” drawing I did today is of Macclesfield’s original Free Library building, which first opened in 1876. 1/2

3/3 This painting is in the upcoming MAFA Members Exhibition at Manchester Cathedral, entitled VOYAGES. This majestic church provides a stunning setting for an art exhibition, so it’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area. It runs from 2nd - 31st August 2025.

2/3 Until recently, this boarded-up office supplies shop had ghost signage and fly posters across its frontage. In the painting, you can see Mark Titchner’s poster: IT’S THE HOPE THAT KEEPS US HERE, as well as a small Invader street art mosaic that has been there since 2004.
