My first "fanboy" game research paper (CHI 2025)! I'm a huge Dark Souls and Elden Ring fan and in this paper, we study how DS players discuss depression on Reddit. I developed the AI-assistance part of the analysis process.

I’ve been developing and publishing AI-based game testing tools, but I’m not super excited about the topic anymore. Game testing is a common way into the games industry and I’d rather not contribute to the collapse of the talent pipeline.
In recent conversations I'm seeing signs of the collapse of the talent pipeline I discuss in my book. Mid-level people would rather use AI for first drafts than interns. And interns are using AI to do the first draft work. Learning is threatened. Book:
