A good businessman needs a lot of friends. Cultivating them is a laborious process, and how well you succeed is a direct result of how much effort and thoughtfulness you bring to bear.

I really cannot emphasize enough how much of an effect the autobiography of Thomas Watson Jr. was to me, the 2nd CEO of IBM during the S/360 days

slide film is dying a long slow death — velvia 50, which was the most interesting slide film, is no longer made. very saturated reds, deep blacks, really interesting light fall off. shadows go a bit magenta, especially if it’s exposed badly or old film

i love it because now that we’re in the future we can start forming things unmoored by technology’s shape. i e we once were only able to make things that looked like they were made of wood out of wood but now we can make stuff out of wood that looks nothing like wood.

i love the singular vision of the future in Logan’s Run so amorphous to how technology came to be - unmoored by the 7 seg display and a CP/M world. a most stylized invention, not worn continuation like Starwars or dated like Ghost in the Shell just embarrassing sincere kitsch
