I'm so honoured to receive the inaugural Stephen P. Stich award, particularly since Steve is a scholar (and person) I very much admire.

I'm teaching a graduate seminar in moral psychology this Fall. I've done this before, but I want to rethink the readings. If you've taught a course like this, I'd be very grateful if you could post or email me your syllabus.

The assigned readings in my intro ethics class are public philosophy, at the bleeding edge of cultural and technological change—where each side of a debate has a reasonable case. Here are the previous assigned readings. What topics should I cover this time around? What readings?

I'm writing a post that explores the value of the field of psychology. One way to frame the question is to ask: If there were no psychologists, what would the world miss out on? Anyone?.

excellent article--"Losing Loneliness"--by Paul Bloom in last week's New Yorker. (sorry, no link available.). this is easily the most thoughtful assessment of the situation which I have read, though it focuses primarily on AI "companions." (& Bloom does discuss the film "Her.").
