I'm going to admit: after spending much of the first decade of my career working on various #ccs standards, I hadn't expected to enter my third decade with such a big discussion about needing CO2 geostorage standards! https://t.co/ZGghifj5iC /8

And so it seems that, after looking at what appeared to be yesterday’s text again, parties decided that there will be no A6.4 outcome from #COP28

And so another day is past without a semblance of a text on 6.4

Yikes! Can’t recall the @unfccc ever publishing something quite as…well…unbalanced. I can only hope we’ve tested the floor
Surprising take on engineered #carbonremoval in the #Article6.4 context. Does this really reflect the input received to date? Source: information note for the next SB meeting https://t.co/EAqcxe8wa5

💯agree with @hollyjeanbuck on this. Philanthropy is increasingly being used as a badge of honour without any notion of who or what is standing behind it
@arvindpawan1 So they had a few FFI ppl on the organizing committee of 2 workshops. I am not sure this counts as “shaping the focus” of the future research initiative, but just don’t put those people on the organizing committee, easy. Bigger prob imo is the non-transparency of philanthropy.

That’s a chunky counterfactual
@IEA The rise in global CO2 emissions in 2022 would have been nearly 3 times as high if it wasn't for the strong growth of solar, wind, EVs, heat pumps & energy efficiency They prevented 550 million tonnes of emissions @IEA's report: https://t.co/rKVDGoyeRZ

Hurrah! A sensible commentary on CDR crediting and climate policy
Q. Does the use of ACCUs show up in our national inventory in terms of our obligations under the Paris Agreement? A. The accounting we use for ACCUs and the accounting we use for our inventory are not related. The inventory is modelled off tree growth, etc, not ACCU methods -TAI
