Hilo:

Come and see me talking about the inner lives of ants, bees, and wasps this Thursday at 12:00 at CreafTalks (also online): "Cooperation, Conflicts, and Emerging Traits in Social Insects". 🐜🐝 @CREAF_ecologia 👉

Last project of "Freshwater ecosistems" sent to be evaluated. We did a comparison of macroinvertebrate functional spaces between lotic and lentic habitats, and did several functional diversity estimations. It was for sure a fascinating project! 🪲🪱 #ecosistemesfluvials

Thank you, @ri_caliari! It was all due to your advise and guidance 🐜🌿
Really proud of my MSc student Patricia González @patris013 for winning the best presentation at the IX Biojornades @uabbiociencies! 🌟 She is doing an impressive study on the ecological dynamics of Mediterranean ant communities. 🐜🌿

We just started "Freshwater ecosystems", a new subject in the Biodiversity master's program. We've been identifying the aquatic macroinvertebrates we sampled during the field trip 🪲🪱🐚 #ecosistemesfluvials

In this two videos you can see a colony of harvester ants of the species #Messor #barbarus carefully gathering elm seeds of the #Ulmus #minor tree. Found yesterday while walking through the UAB campus with @patris013

New paper out in @ScienceMagazine We report an extraordinary reproductive system in the yellow crazy ant. 🐜 Males of this species are all chimeras: they carry maternal and paternal genomes in different cells of their body.

A newly discovered mode of reproduction in ants results in males being chimeras of haploid cells from two divergent lineages.
