the biggest value they bring isn’t speed. it’s preventing rewrites, outages, and dead-end decisions before they happen

they ask uncomfortable questions early: – what’s the real deadline? – what happens if this slips? – are we solving a user problem or an internal anxiety?

a senior dev optimizes for fewer surprises. not “clean architecture” on day 1. not perfect abstractions. just steady progress and clear tradeoffs.

they’re allergic to unnecessary complexity. not because they can’t build it… but because they’ve been on call at 3am fixing it.
