Driving into ditches. Sifting through fresh damage. Getting hit by tornadoes. Man, all we did was sit in a parking lot for three hours, eat a garbage lunch, and then go try to see a storm. It's like all these other people are chasing on a different planet.

Storm B with an expansive cirrus canopy. Once we realized the F5 wasn't going to stop, we dropped SW and picked up this cell. We observed 9 tornadoes over the next 90 minutes. This was the most prolific tornado producer of the May 3, 1999 event.

Very stressed, but very thankful my family is alive and well after dodging multiple strong nocturnal tornadoes. It was an enjoyable three-day chase trip, including highs, lows, and everything in between. 2,093 miles and my first 2024 tornado. I'll take it.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure nobody knows what's gonna happen in May. I always wait and see what the weather is actually gonna do, instead of trying to guess based on long range models when we don't even believe our daily models 7 days out.
