Really enjoying @Parmy Olson's superb book on the story (and it's quite the story, with twists and turns aplenty) of how we got to where we are with #AI. Brilliantly written with a real knack for making complex science & history readable. @OpenAI @GoogleDeepMind

Imo AGI is not what’s concerning. It’s the nonstop increase in capabilities that’s alarming. How is alignment possible when you look at what’s happening in the world today? The world can’t even align itself on issues. You think companies can? Whose values will it prioritize?

Just had a fascinating lunch with a 22-year-old Stanford grad. Smart kid. Perfect resume. Something felt off though. He kept pausing mid-sentence, searching for words. Not complex words - basic ones. Like his brain was buffering. Finally asked if he was okay. His response

Questions for anyone in the UK with kids under 13 who use TikTok: Have they been booted off the platform? How are they reacting? TikTok is apparently removing under-13's from the app to comply with the UK's Online Safety Act and I'd love to hear how that's working out for kids
