Yes indeed. Might turn out to be an ok track for the flat. Wouldn't have to worry about low sun issues either!
@MikeParcej @parispiked They use to have flat racing at Aintree. Red Rum dead heated on debut over 5f there

There's too much racing generally but that's not an argument for stifling an individual tracks offering.
@parispiked Plenty enough Flat racing at Chester and Haydock in the summer.

The answer to "why break the silence now" is surely "rolling the pitch". As for the substance of the matter, sadly I find it unsurprising .
Pursuing this thought: @TheJockeyClub have kept quiet on this option for SEVEN YEARS whilst the little people have tried to make positive plans for a sport they believed definitely still involved Kempton. The question has to be: why break this silence now? What's about to happen?

If that's the case (and I'm not disputing the possibility) then surely b/m withdrawing would prompt a reaction as racing cannot survive without some mechanism for people to bet off course. Natures abhors a vacuum....
'The minimum bet rule model is there in Australia for all to see and the Gambling Commission should act now' Racing was already a breakeven product before the massive tax increases. Having this now would mean no operator would offer racing bets. https://t.co/8qzOh4SFaU

Of course they do but there are many worse offenders (Olly Murphy for one) and I think his annoyance is as much based on the comparison between a deliberate misrepresentation by the a DOC and his offence (and the penalties imposed) and he has a point
The public deserve to see horses in Grade 1 races (or any race) before they run, Mr Skelton. The BHA should be applauded for finally doing something about this. The public bother to go and watch our sport, they deserve better.

I understand the point re fixtures but are you saying/inferring that they have little or no control of the individual races at those fixtures? If so, there is no point in a race planning process!
@parispiked They have little control tbf, or the various BHA committees

"Race Planning", insofar as the BHA are concerned, is an oxymoron.
"It really is not very clever to have the 3m4f+ London National at Sandown on the same weekend as the 2m7f+ Welsh National trial at Chepstow, the 3m2f Becher at Aintree, and the 4m Scottish Borders National at Kelso on Sunday, is it? (and we also have a 3m handicap chase at

"Apart" not "about"
@parispiked ‘Occasional’ doing quite a bit of heavy lifting there Lindsay. Of course jumps reward a good jump and if you can keep a jump as the same test but reduce injuries then fine. But if you can’t then you’re on the road to long distance flat racing.

"If" also doing some heavy lifting too! We're not far about I think - more a matter of nuance I think.

An alternative take is that the obstacles are not there to "cause" falls but ,rather, to reward good, quick jumping. Falls are an inevitable occasional consequence of horses not jumping well but reducing their incidence surely not, per se, a negative?

Head carriage of TNL most unattractive and of course there was a threatened run out. Took some 40/1 Alexi post Cheltenham LTO and happy with that.
