some white progressives make a point of changing their emoji skin tone from yellow to pale beige, listing 'white' in every bio etc. I think the intention is to be transparent about white privilege or denormalize whiteness or whatever but to me it just comes off as white pride lol.

'organic' always connotes a style that is soothingly curvy, flowing and freeform, but I feel like the styles that organically occur in nature are more often geometric, striated and creepily symmetrical.

to a generation that's served only the newest media – and whose media is only in dialogue with other new media, never anything from the past – I'm sure any older media that manages to surface in the algorithm does feel like a lost artifact that miraculously washed up on the beach.
