Nice reconstruction of Civettictis vulpidens sp.nov from Langebaanweg (Churcher et al., 2025).
Did you know there used to be giant civets in both Africa and Asia? At around the size of an African wild dog, the Miocene Civettictis vulpidens likely had an erectile crest of hair to look even bigger than it was- handy, as it coexisted with sabercats and other large predators!
