just some perspective
dillon gabriel’s girlfriend posted a “GRWM to go to an oregon football dinner party” 4 hours ago on tiktok
she has confirmed it was at dan lanning’s house in the comments
WHAT IS THIS SPORT
your reminder that Cam Newton was strip sacked and it was returned for a touchdown in the 2011 national title game, but the call was botched by the refs.
star Oregon WR Devon Williams declares for the NFL draft via Instagram. will not participate in Alamo Bowl either. tough loss for the Ducks heading into next season, but will mean more opportunity for a young, talented group.
looks like 4-star LB Devon Jackson (
@DevontheJet402
), a huge piece in the 2022 class, is ready to put pen to paper for the Ducks tomorrow. Jackson has the freakish skillset that new HC Dan Lanning has made a career out of developing
Dont’e Thornton and Troy Franklin are so ridiculously talented. y’all go ahead and nit pick their games, but I’ll sit back and watch two guys who can beat a receiver by 3 strides whenever they want just go to work. freakish athletes and special players.
#unleashtheskinnies
people forget DJ Johnson was a top 70 prospect out of high school. absolutely no shortage of talent and he’s taking this game over. you put Dorlus, Popo, Taki, KWH, Swinson, Funa, Sewell, Flowe, Bassa + around him in this conference… this could get fun.
from a macro perspective, Dante Moore’s commitment is immediately on the Mount Rushmore of Oregon recruiting history.
Haloti Ngata
De’Anthony Thomas
Kayvon Thibodeaux
Dante Moore
I think each has a compelling case for the top spot, all for different reasons.
Ridiculous that gameday isn’t in Corvallis this weekend. May be the last trip USC ever takes to Reser. There’s so much history in those matchups, it’s truly been a defining game for the conference this century. A shame to miss out on that in favor of another mediocre SEC game.
greg mcelroy: “they don’t get to play cal in the sec.”
uh huh, instead georgia & ole miss played one possession games with the auburn team that an injured cal played near-even & outgained earlier this year.
letting this garbage go unchecked is what killed the pac-12.
my 1st team all pac-12 offense:
QB: Bo Nix UO
RB: Bucky Irving UO
RB: Dame Martinez OSU
WR: Rome Odunze UW
WR: Troy Franklin UO
WR: Tet McMillan UA
TE: Jack Velling OSU
OL: Taliese Fuaga OSU
OL: Ajani Cornelius UO
OL: Jake Levengood OSU
OL: Troy Fautanu UW
C: J Powers-Johnson UO
burch returning is the equivalent of a 5-star portal commitment. he’s immediately the best player on next year’s defense & has a great shot to rise up 2025 draft boards.
oregon state is EASILY leading south carolina at half with a remotely fair whistle. EASILY.
worst half of officiating on either side of the tournament all year. 3 on Beers and Gardiner is atrocious.
.
@SWiltfong247
just mentioned a potential flip of 4-star DL Gracen Halton to Miami on the ESD live show, nothing done yet but that would be a major hit to the Ducks 2022 class…
franklin burned the DB by 3 strides. he shouldn’t have to dive or adjust to catch it. I don’t care. it couldn’t be an easier throw to a more open target. just hit it.
apparently some people still need to learn these 2 basic things about college football:
1) recruiting is the most important indicator of success in the pursuit of a national championship
2) being a good recruiter and a good coach are by no means mutually exclusive
@LateKickJosh
A lot of Oregon fans mentioning the infamous Dyer play. I’d like to add the less known fact that Cam Newton was strip sacked at the 3:00 minute mark of the 1st quarter. Almost definitely a scoop and score if it’s not incorrectly called dead.
high 3-star ATH
@anthonyjones015
has flipped his commitment to Oregon via his IG live. this one flew totally under the radar. credit to his teammate at Liberty
@SirMells40
for getting it done. HUGE get 🦆🦆
Noah Sewell is so special imagine if there was another 5-star LB next to… oh wait what? you’re telling me Oregon has Rueben Foster 2.0 on its roster and he’s out
one of the key moments from the opening presser. Lanning had it made as a premier DC at Georgia and I’d bet there was a list of 10-15 premier head coaching jobs that could pull him away. clearly he feels Oregon is a part of that group.
i am going to enjoy every bit of these washington tears and not feel remotely bad about it.
i have given plenty of respect. great season that they can celebrate, but this washington team absolutely did not deserve to win a national title.
for those worried about the youth of these coordinator hires, I’ll respond with a Lanningism:
“I’m not asking for you to trust me, I’m asking for an opportunity to earn your trust.”
he’s been waiting a long time for this HC opportunity. let’s see what these guys can do.
genuinely don’t think Oregon has *ever* been ranked as the
#1
WR room on any preseason graphic in the history of the program
shoutout Howry, Samie, Demetrius, Maehl, Huff, D Mitch, JJ3, Troy, & many more
we all know that if jayden daniels had these exact stats on an 8-3 arizona state he wouldn’t have a shot at the heisman.
call it stupid, but you’ve always needed to lead a good team & have a signature moment.
sec propagandists all of a sudden have an issue with that.
really don’t understand this clock management to end the half. are you trying to score or just end the half? timeout use in combinations with play calls don’t make sense either way, like at all
I don’t think it’s too controversial to say Noah Sewell is Oregon’s best player currently slotted to return next season. who’s next? a lot of great options. who’s your number 2 pick heading into next year?
Kayvon Thibodeaux included, pretty much confirming what we all already knew. but also interestingly some others like Mykael, Verone, Popo are not. who knows what that will mean for their looming NFL decisions, but worth note
even if this were true (it’s not)… can we talk about the fact that Tybo Rogers was in the portal and JEDD FISCH actively recruited him back to UW?
this is literally months after the accusations were public. if *i* knew in January how could Fisch not? it’s his job.
One thing to remember in situations like this: decision to suspend is completely out of the coaches hands. It’s an upper campus issue. There are committees to handle things like this. Coaches have no say whatsoever whether or not a player is suspended. And if upper campus is
Both Oregon and Washington are -3.5 favorites at home this weekend vs potentially fraudulent top 12 opponents. O/Us are separated by just half a point. The intrigue of the actual football games is only rivaled by the inevitable aftermath between the fanbases.
wow. just wow. an explosion from oregon today on the recruiting trail. ducks land a 4-star wide receiver. from what state you ask? texas, of course. this is a statement day 🦆🦆
🚨🚨NEW STORY IMPACT: DAVE IULI IS A DUCK!! i wrote about dave iuli’s decision to join the flock. what skills make him such a promising prospect, how this separates oregon from the rest of the pac-12, and what’s next? give it a read on
@DucksDigest
🦆🦆
Yamms is an Oregon legend when it’s all said and done. people gave up on him early, but he just worked and responded on the field. came up big in the biggest moments (ASU, Utah). now he’s the leader of one of the best duck WR rooms ever. excited for his final act at Oregon 🦆🦆
Oregon is now set to hire Arizona State’s Ra’Shaad Samples as its new running backs coach and assistant head coach, sources tell
@247sports
.
In Samples, Oregon lands one of the nation’s top recruiters. In addition, he helped Ulysses Bentley become a Freshman All-American running
this pickup makes a ton of sense for both sides. the Ducks are short on bodies & experience in the receiver room, so you go add a proven P5 contributor with ties to the program and another tool for a new look offense in 2022.
i’m really enjoying this meltdown on texas twitter. just telling on themselves for not watching the games at every chance.
i’ll help: a 3-point overtime win over
#25
kansas state is not a mark in the “we’re a top 5 team” column.
JT Tuimoloau is set to arrive in Eugene for his long awaited official visit. come read my thoughts on his recruitment and the case for the ducks over on
@DucksDigest
that’s a great point! Bennett just has a knack for making plays that he’s shown since he arrived in Eugene and it was the exact same way at Illinois before that. not only a special player but a selfless teammate who worked hard to get back out there last night. deserves some love
Not nearly enough credit (like zero) was given to
@bennettw04
for this stuffing of the blocker AND forced fumble…Less than 3 months after surgery for a broken fibula!
HUGE get for the Ducks. Oregon needed a corner and they got a good one. Gonzales already a two-year starter at Colorado where he was coached up by
