1/ We’re excited to introduce Overload.
A permissionless restaking primitive on
@base
that enables restaking of any ERC-20 token, with no slashing.
We believe this pushes the restaking paradigm further and offers greater flexibility for restakers, as well as AVSs.
1/ We are now open for users to restake their tokens on
@base
!
The initial tokens Overload supports will be ETH, wstETH, cbETH, rETH, USDC, USDbC and DAI.
The Overload team will continue to add other tokens that users can restake.

We are excited to introduce the Omnichain Restaking Layer, an innovative approach that offers a flexible and modular architecture, which enables validation across various blockchains instead of a single chain.
Overload will allow any asset from any chain to be used to secure
A lot of people have asked about the duration of the points program, so here it is!
The Points program will last 3 - 6 months.
Once the points program ends, restakers will receive airdrops in proportion to their points.

4/ Restake any ERC-20
Overload allows any ERC-20 token to be restaked.
We believe this will offer more flexibility and economic security to AVSs, as restakers will have more optionality in which token they’d want to use.
10/ We have decided to build Overload on
@base
, an L2 supported by
@coinbase
.
Base has a strong community and technical foundation that we believe is good to build on for the long term.
By utilizing Base’s low gas fees, it enables users to restake smaller amounts of capital.
people will be able to restake memecoins to secure AVSs
you will retain the upside of memecoins while getting airdrops from overload and AVSs built on top.

13/ Overload was founded by

and
@0x_rukiasama
, both who have been in the cryptocurrency space for many years.
They have a strong technical and foundational understanding of crypto, and are well versed in crypto culture.
3/ At Overload Labs, we have made several breakthroughs to the restaking architecture.
It includes:
1. Restaking of any ERC-20
2. Onchain Consensus
3. No slashing
Each of these drastically changes the restaking mechanics. Let's dive in further.
2/ Restaking is the process of putting value-at-stake to provide economic security to protocols, networks or applications.
The consumers of security are called Actively Validated Services, or AVSs. Examples of AVSs could be L1s, DAs, AI apps, and other potential candidates.
12/ We will soon be launching the initial rollout of restaking and a new, innovative points system that rewards users based on contributions fairly.
Users will be able to restake ERC-20 tokens on
@base
and earn points for select tokens. We will continue to add new tokens for the
7/ To solve inactivity leaks, Overload implements jailing of validators.
By jailing a validator, they are kicked from the validator set. This forces the validators to miss out on attestation rewards, as well as having their assets locked for a specified amount of time.
since overload has no slashing, accepts any erc 20 token, and restakers can choose the AVS directly, restakers will have more options and the risk of restaking decreases, which will result in more restaked assets and AVSs.
6/ No slashing
On Ethereum, there are 4 penalties that exist.
1. Proposing 2 different blocks
2. Surround voting
3. Double signing
4. Inactivity leaks
But on Overload, only the “inactivity leak” penalty would apply since AVSs utilizes Onchain Consensus.
5/ Onchain Consensus
Overload introduces a new concept called Onchain Consensus, which allows AVSs to perform validation directly onchain.
It prevents all slashable offenses and simplifies development of AVS drastically.
No slashing, and no config of wirewalls or DDos Attacks.
11/ Overload also sidesteps the operator model for restaking, where it's the operator that decides which AVSs that should be validated.
Instead, Overload implements a "many-to-many" model and returns the choice of picking AVSs to validate, back to the user for more flexibility.
8/ Since slashing is not possible on Overload, we believe this lowers the hurdle both for launching AVSs, and for restaking to them.
Lowered risk would imply more restakers, and more restakers would draw in more AVSs deployed, creating a desirable feedback loop.
9/ Overload is built to be immutable, permissionless and minimal to reduce overhead for AVSs.
The core team cannot alter the contract, and anyone can launch an AVS on Overload.
We predict that this will lead to a proliferation of AVSs on Overload, with new unique use cases.
a restaking project where you can restake directly to validators with any ERC-20 token, with no slashing, with high float from the beginning.
who's building this😉
5/ Boost Points: Users who restake early will receive a multiplier boost of points for being an early supporter of Overload.
The earlier you restake, the more boost and therefore points you will receive. The boost points table is set as below.
3/ As users restake their tokens, they will receive points!
Users receive points based on size and duration of restaking. Restakers earn 1 point per hour for every 1 USD that is restaked in Overload.
We also put a unique twist by adding:
- Bonus points
- Boost points
4/ Bonus points: As the total restaked tokens in overload increases, the airdrop amount increases.
This prevents dilution of the airdrop as TVL goes up. The bonus points table is set as below.
6/ The Bonus and Boost points system is to reward early supporters of Overload for bootstrapping the project and to distribute the tokens as widely as possible.
Read the points documentation for further details.

With a team of 3 auditors we managed to find 4 Medium severity vulnerabilities, all of which got resolved.
