ideally should be a bull case for sarvam, but i am bearish - news on the grapevine is that they are internally slow + not aggressive. hoping this wont be the case, having OAI be our provider would turn us into a very america dependent country lol.

the end game for openai (and all foundational model companies) should be obvious by now. sovereign models. it makes sense only for governments to run LLMs and absorb the costs (since benefits compound back into the economy) - this is not a new concept btw (think UPI, ONDC).

this is downstream of global cultural shifts, countries are closing borders, globalism is losing its shine. as 'work' is done by AI, states will rush to control the means of production, aka LLMs - u wouldn't want ur economic backbone to be in a datacenter in another country.

deepseek is defacto chinese sovereign model. for the usa, it's openai. india is the only large market left unopinionated - makes complete sense for openai to expand here.

the upper class will not magically fix itself - they still have a lot of margin to throw money at the problem and fix. the slow death spiral of Indian society started the day we rejected ambedkar.

sadly, cultural changes cannot be enacted amicably. violence is the sole instrument for cultural engineering - think 20th century china, indian independence, spanish inquisition.

this is the reason why the indian upper class always calls out how they 'pay the highest taxes' yet still receive nothing in return. they are under the impression that:.1. this is a capital problem, and.2. throwing money entitles them to a solution.

we are the outsourcing capital of the world not because of other countries. outsourcing everything by throwing money at the problem is OUR thing and so deeply entrenched into indian society. caught by cops? marriage? menial labour? just throw money, silly.

the true rot in indian society is cultural. progress and prosperity (on a national scale) is always driven by culture. culture is created by those who have the time and resources - and in india, only the upper class (<5% population) have such means.

knowingly or unknowingly, looking at culture has pretty much been the entirety of my investments' due diligence - 100% hitrate now looking obvious in hindsight.

physically pains me every day that i grew up believing the indian propaganda of STEM supremacy and its outsized contributions to innovation. FALSE, culture is the true leading indicator, always has been.

life as a niche subject matter expert is so amusing, everyone around you thinks you're weird but then there's ~100 people out there who take your sayings as the Word of God.
